The worm farm that draws attention and starts conversations

We visit Rachel at Vitality Organics, a 'Why Waste Worms' commercial customer. Vitality Organics is a food trailer in Mount Maunganui, offering the best place to connect with other like-minded earth warriors while feasting on the most delicious organic smoothies, coffee and superfoods.

Rachel shares how their worm farm has become a part of their workplace living ecosystem. Her partner Dave has named it ‘The Snake Pit’. Their staff love it and have a lot of fun using it as a talking point to introduce customers to waste minimisation and broader concepts around consumerism and conscious living.

Rachel believes that compost is the last step of food preparation. She explains, “The food comes from the land, it comes into the kitchen (or in this case the business), food is made and then I actually have to go outside to take what’s left of that back to the earth in a way that can get upcycled and used again.”

Their customers love getting involved in this process and many of them take the castings home to add nutrients to their gardens.

'Why Waste Worms' customers rent a professionally managed worm farm that transforms food waste into soil. Reducing landfill waste by up to half. Learn more about ‘Why Waste Worms’.
